We believe that professional experience placements in the schools and colleges in towns across our region give you a great opportunity to work with dedicated, expert teachers and be welcomed into the wider local community.
To make this possible, we offer travel, accommodation and living allowances that help you to get there and enjoy your experience.
Each of the school locations that are a part of the sponsorship program are shown below. The further west you go, the more the sponsorship you will receive; this takes into account the costs associated with travelling to these towns.
We will work with the school location to see if an accommodation host can be arranged. When this is possible and you agree to live with a family or in a shared house/unit with other staff, the accommodation allowance of $200 per week is payable to the host.
If you would like to arrange your own accommodation, you can let us know on your sponsorship application. Where you arrange your own accommodation the allowance of $200 per week is paid to you.
Category | School location | Travel allowance (one off) | Weekly living allowance | Weekly accommodation allowance |
Remote | Charleville Cunnamulla Quilpie | $600 | $200 | $200 |
Rural | Chinchilla Goondiwindi Inglewood Mitchell Roma St George Stanthorpe Tara | $300 | $200 | $200 |
Regional | Dalby Millmerran Warwick | $300 | $200 | $200 |
Payments are made after the start of your placement and may be broken into several instalments depending on the length of your placement.
If the placement is not fully completed, both you and your accommodation host (if applicable) will need to repay any sponsorship and accommodation payments (calculated pro rata) for the period of the professional experience placement that is not completed.
Working in partnership with Universities, we identify supervising teachers and suitable accommodation in our school locations each year. These will vary, so contact the professional experience placement team at your university to discuss your interest and what is available. Your university will coordinate your placement request with us.
Placements must be identified as requiring sponsorship at the time of being requested, and approved and arranged through the TCSO Placements team to be eligible for sponsorship.
Whether you would like to undertake a professional experience placement with us or not, you can fill out our quick and easy expression of interest form to let us know that you are interested in working with us. One of our friendly team members will be in touch to find out more about your career aspirations and to discuss the diverse opportunities that are available to you, to start and grow your career with TCS.
